With my lead supervision, I had to integrate Bubble, a new cross-game social feature, to Monopoly, a year after the game global launch.

Bubble is social hub, allowing users to add friends, chat with friends, play with them with a video chat and have access to their Marmalade game library.

As Bubble is present on multiple Marmalade games with different game flows and art styles, we used a glass morphism style that can be easily blended with all the games and keep consistency as the user can still see the blurred game in the background.

UX and flows

The Online with Friends game mode was the biggest change, as we had to adapt it to a video chat.

Having the video chat panels on the screen was a challenge, in the frontend as in game.

On the frontend, I had to be careful with all the information and elements on screen to not be overlapped by the video panels.

Some new features had to be visible, like the add friends button in the lobby.

In game, I had to combine the players information with the video panel and its own buttons.

I had to work closely with developers to make sure every decision was doable and could work correctly.
